Hardly any venues openly welcome 18ths and 21sts — here are the four that do
Here is the fact nobody tells you until you have rung half of Sydney: most venues do not want your 18th or 21st. Of all the venues we have checked across Sydney and NSW, several ban milestone birthdays outright in their hire conditions — and only four state that they genuinely welcome them.
It is not personal. Young-adult parties mean RSA pressure, security staffing, neighbours, and insurance excesses. Clubs and bowlos — the venues that look perfect for exactly this party — are often the strictest: some won't take 18ths or 21sts at all, and some ban under-18s from parts of the venue entirely.
The four that say yes

- 1st/2nd Blacktown Scout Hall — from $30, whole hall to yourselves, BYO catering. The budget option that actually says yes.
- Bank Hotel, Newtown — private and semi-private spaces on King Street, in-house food and drinks.
- Vagabond Cruises, Sydney Harbour — the whole boat is yours, which neatly solves the gatecrasher problem: nobody arrives at a moving vessel.
- Merewether Functions at Merewether SLSC, Newcastle — the surf-club classic, with a balcony over the beach.
Each one states its position in its own published material — this is not directory hearsay. And plenty of other venues will consider a milestone birthday case by case; the four above are simply the ones that put it in writing.
If you're booking one
Expect conditions, and treat them as normal: guest lists, RSA-qualified bar staff, sometimes a security guard for larger numbers, and a bond. A venue that asks for these is not being difficult — it is being the kind of venue that will still exist for your 30th.
